Teaming up again with our partners at Bat For A Chance
Posted: 4th April, 2022
Earlier this year we partnered with a fantastic charity, Bat For A Chance, who work to provide disadvantaged schools around the World with the equipment they need to access to the wonderful sport of cricket. Following the successful first kit drop in Barbados, we’re proud to have assisted the charity again, this time by moving equipment to Lahore, Pakistan.
This is the charity’s first project in Pakistan in partnership with FemGames, a female empowerment initiative originating in the UK and currently implementing an ambitious five-year plan to bring this ‘empowerment through sport’ initiative to a hundred girls’ schools across Pakistan.

After successful transfer to Lahore, the cricket equipment was delivered to Roshan Sitara Primary School last week and we think this image speaks a thousand words!
Phil Wardlaw, Managing Director of Virgin Atlantic Cargo said: “We couldn’t be more thrilled to support Bat For A Chance with their second shipment of cricket equipment to Lahore. It is an honour to bring our expertise in transporting cargo to such a worthy project, and we’re grateful for the support of our freight forwarding partner, Woodland Group, and our ground handling partner in Lahore, Gerry’s Dnata, in supporting this shipment.
At Virgin Atlantic, our purpose is to empower everyone to take on the world and use our business as a force for good, through our communities, our people, and our partners. Partnering with Bat For A Chance means Virgin Atlantic Cargo can bring a real opportunity for children to participate in this wonderful sport and experience the joy of cricket, in both Pakistan and across the world."
The Charity’s founder and CEO, Will Gaffney, said “We are so grateful to Virgin Atlantic, The Woodland Group, Ebba Qureshi and FemGames for helping us bring this project together. It is a phenomenal start to 2022 - a year which will see us bring together corporates and donors in tangible investment into cricket projects in the UK and globally. Bat For A Chance has the simple aim of breaking down barriers which prevent people from having access to opportunities to play the wonderful game of cricket.”
Ebba Qureshi CEO and Founder of FemGames and Trustee for Bat for a Chance said – “I am delighted to be facilitating this empowering project in Pakistan on behalf of Bat For a Chance. The kit drop comes at the end of the Women’s ICC World Cup and the launch of a women’s franchise cricket tournament in Dubai which I am thrilled to be involved in setting up - this couldn’t have come at a better time for both FemGames & the girls of Pakistan.”
Huge thanks to Woodland Group, Dnata UK and Gerry’s Dnata for all of their help in ensuring the safe arrival of the cargo! We are thrilled to have a played a part in this great mission and are looking forward to supporting Bat for a Chance with several more equipment drops across our network later in the year.
